The Epic Cornball that is “My Amnesia Girl”

The flick is hilariously corny!

I saw the teaser of the movie last month and I knew at that very moment that we were bound to watch it. I find Toni funny and well, yes, may past kasi kami ni JLC. Hehe And so, we had to watch it.

Our busy office schedules (ehem, hotshots ata kami haha) has permitted us to squeeze in an after-work viewing of the movie. Thinking that hindi naman ka-level ng Harry Potter 7 in reality ang pelikulang ito, we skipped reserving tickets.

Wearing pormal-pormalan office attire and all, at hindi talaga maaming “My Amnesia Girl” ang papanoorin, we told Ate Ticket Seller, “Cinema 1, please.” Haha

Much to our surprise, puno ang sinehan. We got the best seats, KUNG concert ang pinanood namin.

Oh, well, kebs na. I’ve watched a Pirates of the Caribbean movie once, up close, literal. What could be worse than watching JLC in a movie na super-duper up close, right?

[Spoiler alert! or maybe a warning?!]

Well, watching JLC semi-naked up close is!

Anyway, bukod sa imbey na grupo sa likod namin na animo’y mga higante na walang ginawa kundi sipain ‘yung upuan, we actually had fun watching the movie. ‘Wag ka lang mag-iisip (bukod sa thought na siguro first time manood sa sine ng mga hinayupak na tao sa likod namin), matatawa ka sa “My Amnesia Girl.”

That’s what we did, and we enjoyed the movie.

No, I don’t think parang “50 First Dates” ‘yung pelikula. Hindi naman masyado. In fairness to the writer (or writers?) may konting originality naman. Or feeling ko lang ‘yun?

I don’t know if may movie na na ginawa ‘yung pag-blow ng 28 cakes in a birthday. (May umeksena pang bata sa sinehan, kumunta s’ya ng “Happy Birthday” song out loud).

Or ‘yung annoying na pagtaas ni Carlos Agassi ng shirt n’ya to reveal his steroid abs. Eew!

Or ang dikitan ng Post-its ang buong bahay, which I find so cute.

Or ang premise na iniwan ni JLC si Toni sa altar at never silang nagkausap after that incident until JLC bumps into Toni at a grocery store at nagpanggap siya na may amnesia s’ya para gumanti. I couldn’t believe three years lang ‘yun at humaba na ng ganun ang buhok ni Toni. Extensions, yeah, may extensions s’ya. Ganun na lang.

Or even ang pagsayaw ni JLC na nakakadiri, nakakatawa at nakakakilig all at the same time.

If meron nang movie na ganun, let me know, please.

I must give a thumbs-up sa director, writers at sa characters. Sa sobrang corny ng mga linya, matatawa ka just to get them out of your system.

Anyway, okay na ‘yung first 80 percent of the movie, e. Halatang-halatang may mangyayaring masama.

In this one, I think it’s the idea of karma at ang  “mapagbirong tadhana” factor.

I must agree, they’re right on implying that life, indeed, has a wicked sense of humor. And sometimes it’s way better to laugh kesa ma-stress about it. Because, after all, life is “so awesome.”
